Great Negro Tragedian Scottron Delights Boston Audiences

Professor T C Scottron, famed as America’s only recognized Negro tragedian, spoke to the Bannaker Literary Association on Thursday the 22nd. He performed tragical and comic pieces including The Spanish Mother and Shylock the Merchant of Venice, with Miss A T Willis and others supporting. Decoration Day Procession Held With City Honors

Decoration Day observed May 6 with a civic procession led by Chief Marshal Colonel Geo L Madison. The parade moved from City Hall at 4 30 pm featuring the Enterprise Band J C Abbott Post and Cape Fear groups. Graves were decorated and a special service at the National Cemetery followed.

Music at the Cemetery Impresses Asaph Club

The Asaph Club praised the cemetery music as fire and the Rev. PD Dodge delivered an oration many called the finest for the occasion. The procession stretched nearly a mile, the largest in several years.
