Demolished Gladstone factory marks fading local landmark
Demolition of James Martin & Co property opposite the railway at Gladstone ends an era once employing 60 to 70 workers daily. The site, once a hub for farming implements, recalls early residents such as the late Mr Creber and Mr Gebling while noting the shift past the Port St. bridge to the Hooyoolee Hotel. Only one building now remains, formerly Sewell and Sons pianotablers, once rail workers’ quarters, a Horners site in earlier years as Gladstone landmarks fade.
