Jamestown Welcomes Home Veterans in Big Community Event
A February 25 Welcome Home at Jamestown Institute Hall drew 700 to 800 attendees as the Cheer Up Club honored service men and women returning from World War II. The program featured the Citizens Band, speeches by Mayor E. T. Daly and MHR Russell, musical solos, a Diggers Creed tribute, and framed tribute certificates for the fallen and returning personnel. A piano-led community singalong, remarks from local church and RSL members, and a supper and dance followed the formal program.
