Gladstone Carnival Committee Discusses Readings and Lighting
The fortnightly meeting of the general committee chaired by Mr F C Grobb reviewed plans to renovate the Honor Roll, provide public reading rooms during Carnival week, and print rail excursion certificates. Discussions covered lighting estimates for 750 to 1500 lights, band bookings, souvenir progress, and public invitations for former residents. The council pledged £25 toward celebrations, with various members arranging entertainment, sports, and sweets for children. The Queen of Sport leads in votes, followed by the Queen of Children and Queen of Primary Production, amid ongoing fundraising events at the Parish Hall.
