Ford V-8 Engine Approved for Airplane Use
The Ford V-8 becomes the first standard motor car engine to gain United States Commerce Department approval for aircraft use. Arrow Aircraft Corp plans a four-plane-per-day low-wing monoplane production powered by the Ford V-8, with trials showing 500 ft per minute climb, 350 mile range, 100 mph top speed, and 45 mph landing speed.
