The Greenback Convention in Dickinson County
The National Greenback Labor Party held a mass meeting at the Abilene court house on Saturday September 1883. The convention debated uniting labor and anti monopoly groups to form a national anti monopoly party, but the plan was deemed premature. A partial ticket was proposed with A D Blanchett for Sheriff IL Ryan for County Clerk and Mr Jones for Register of Deeds. The same county committee was reappointed and Robt Kane became secretary. The proceedings were requested for publication by the county papers.
