Herington Happenings Wheat Looks Well and Moves

Wheat looks well in the vicinity. Mr. Risley and family moved here from Hillsboro. He plans a large store soon. Elder File of Florence held services last Sunday. Mr. Herington moved to Enterprise. Travelers near Balentine’s residence killed turkeys with clubs, paid for damages. Presbyterians held services Sunday with Rev H Honnel officiating. Preach the 1th Sunday in November at 11 am.

Public notice on Captain J R McClure bid for Judge

In the 6th Judicial District a public statement refutes Capt J R McClure’s candidacy for Judge. It asserts his name was presented to the Sept 25 1883 Judicial Convention without his knowledge while he was away on professional business and against his wishes. It notes delegate William S Blakely acknowledged lack of authorization. Signed by James Kitven, chairman. Junction City Kansas October 20 1883.
