Bankruptsy bill debate in Senate juggles officers terms
The Senate on the 21st debated a bankruptcy bill. Sherman moved to examine officers of the Treasury, four year terms, and the motion passed. The House pressed pension and tariff items, with a Missouri bridge bill and timber depredation measures advancing. Debates touched labor statistics and a bureau of animal industry, while naval and election cases occupied later sessions. Washington notes mention divorce scandal and various local disturbances across regions.

New York Por the first time a dynamite bomb tested
In a Greenwillie swamp near Newark and Morris Canal a trial of a new dynamite projectile was demonstrated. Inventor F H Snyder showed an ordinary four inch twelve pound cannon loading a shock absorbing rubber cushion to prevent detonation. A second test fired a wooden naval projectile with wings that failed to perform as planned, while another exploded in the marsh water. The Dynamite Projectile Company claims a twenty pound shell can be made for twenty dollars less than a standard shell, with future tests planned at Sandy Hook.
