Educational Column on Kansas Teachers Meeting and Guidance
The State Teachers association held at Topeka last week was the largest west of the Mississippi. Gov. Martin gave a Welcome address. sections met with strong attendance. A full account will appear in January in the Western School Journal. Teachers should organize study plans, be cheerful, dignified, impartial, and firm. A quarterly exam will be held January 30 in Abilene. Third grade certificates require physiology and hygiene testing, especially about stimulants. Dr. J. J. Williams, noted as an Institute conductor, will lead the Dickinson county Institute. a teachers institute is planned for Willowdale township January 9. A provision mandates physiology and hygiene exams for teaching certificates after January 1, 1886, with instruction on alcohol and narcotics.
