From Mr. N L Gage of the Santa Fe construction department we learn of a proposed north south line connecting Galveston to Kansas, passing through Indian Territory and Oklahoma. By June the Indian territory work should finish with contracts from Strong City to Abilene and surveys north of Abilene. Four foot coal veins near Crawford county will fuel large plants to mine coal and supply timber and flour routes to Texas and world markets via Galveston. The Dickinson county vote requires construction to Abilene by July 1 1887 with remaining work by year end.
