Leading Democrats Predict Early Dakota Montana Bills in Congress

Washington insiders expect Dakota and Montana admission bills to be among the first acted on when Congress reopens in December. Montana’s 115,000 population surpasses the before-admission figures of Nebraska Nevada California or Oregon at their entry. Michael Potter of Willow Grove New Jersey, the oldest Democrat, turned 101 on July 18 with a 1,500-guest celebration. He has never split a ticket except once for Nixon of Bridgeton. A letter from President Cleveland congratulated him on his age and loyalty. Potter’s first presidential vote was for Madison in 1808.

Facts About Grant and Family Losses

Grant never received a wound in the war. His favorite childhood book was Charles O Malley. His mother died over a year ago and his father long before. He wished to sit up and not die in bed. He leaves two sisters in Jersey City, Mrs Cramer Jana and Mrs Corbin. His last public speech was at Ocean Grove a year ago before the Christian commission. He disliked doctors and resisted attention to the end. He leaves three sons Fred Buck Jessie and Nellie all married and eight grandchildren. He never drank to excess though enjoyed a good drink, with brandy his favorite. His Methodist mother believed in personal holiness.
