New York March 29 Harry K Thaw submitted to a two hour examination by three judges appointed by Justice Fitzgerald to determine his mental condition. The exam was behind closed doors and adjourned to Saturday morning. Thaw answered questions willingly, with defense pleased by the proceedings.

$1,000,000 Fire Destroys Tobacco District in Virginia Town

A major blaze in South Boston, Virginia threatened the town and caused estimated losses up to $1,000,000. The N. J. Reynolds Tobacco plant and other buildings were destroyed as firemen from Danville rushed to assist while appeals were sent to Durham, New Jersey. By 10:80 p.m. much of the tobacco and business districts were reported destroyed.

Wreck on Southern Pacific Train Near Colton

A disastrous wreck on the Southern Pacific near Colton California yesterday afternoon involved train No 9 from New Orleans to San Francisco. At speed about forty miles an hour several coaches were smashed, many passengers killed or seriously injured. The Florence Roberts Theatrical Company was aboard a coach destroyed. two company members were injured while most Pullman cars remained on track. Fireman and baggage man perished. the wreck required a derrick from Belay sixty miles away to raise a car.
