Lorillard Widow Dies In Suspected Gas Tragedy At Dupont Circle

Mrs. Pierre Lorillard Jr., 49, wife of the tobacco magnate, is found dead in her bathroom at 2030 Hillyer Place Washington after an apparent gas leak. Coroner hints death by own action though family attributes heart failure. A note, not released, may detail no explicit plan to end life. New Home for Dakota Freie Presse in Aberdeen

Building permit issued to F. W. Sallett of the Dakota Freie Presse for a brick two story press building at 624 South Main Street Aberdeen. Structure 25 by 60 feet to face Main and Sixth Ave W with completion by July 1 at an estimated cost of 9000 dollars. Sallett plans to move the German paper from Yankton and resume work at once. basement excavated, materials purchased, press moving to Aberdeen slated as a major success for the publication.

Prince Rendinges Claims To The Throne In Serbia

Belgrade March 25 The cabinet council ruled the premier cannot receive a direct message from Crown Prince George and advised him to address the king instead. The prince renounces his throne claims and vows to serve the king and homeland, amid a bitter press campaign and rumors linking him to a servant’s death. He says he will join volunteers if war comes and will await political outcomes before departing.

Negroes killed in clash with deputies at Hickory Settlement

Guthrie Oklahoma March 25 Two hundred negroes and twenty deputy sheriffs clashed after deputy attempts to arrest cattle thieves. Fire from huts and a collapsing wall wounded many. two negroes killed and forty captured. An earlier riot in Chicago involved a jail kidnapping case with James Boyle and his wife.

Gotch Retains World Wrestling Title Over de Rouen

Frank Gotch of Iowa retained the world wrestling championship by defeating Raoul de Rouen of France in straight falls in Kansas City. Gotch finished the first fall with his toe hold, then won the second as de Rouen failed to mount a successful defense. Falls times were 24:45 and 18:00. A huge crowd attended, with over 16 000 spectators and 2 500 visitors from out of town.

400 000 Acres to Be Irrigated in Manitoba

Winnipeg March 26 The Southern Alberta Land company awarded the contract for a 45 mile irrigation ditch on their Manitoba property near Medicine Hat. The project aims to irrigate 400000 acres starting at Bow River with a million dollar scale and heavy excavation. A dozen steam shovels will move 26 miles from the railway line to the work.

Body Found in Stack Near Burbank Farm

Vermillion March 26. While removing straw from a stack on the F. H. Manard farm near Burbank R J Waddington the hired man uncovered the frozen body of a young man about 80 years old No clue to identity has been learned The coat and hat were found some distance from the stack The body will be held pending efforts to establish identity.
