Circuit Court Weekend Minor Criminals On Trial
The circuit court in session this week under Judge McCoy will likely hear criminal cases all week. Four involve liquor law violations. James Ringrose pled guilty for keeping the Sherman House bar open past eleven. Sebastian Schaffer faced two liquor-to-minor charges. he was convicted on one and pled guilty to the other. Gotlieb Reber was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and found not guilty. Joseph Daniels was being tried for assault with a dangerous weapon as the Democrat went to press. The Kunz verdict on appeal was not guilty. A small roll of pills was found at a Waris restaurant. the store property was proven in court.

A storm-related railroad hero, Conductor A W Glenn, risked travel to supply passengers with provisions, earning praise and a seal skin cap from Milbank-bound riders.

Still Building Many Structures Under Construction Citywide
Still building activity dominates the city as numerous dwellings and institutions near completion. On Railroad Avenue 8 H Cranmer nears finish on a seven room cottage to be occupied by B W Stebbins. Nearby Henry Schultz adds a cottage. Wesleyan Methodist church members raise a parsonage on Maple Avenue. The German Catholic church on the same block nears completion with steel ceiling. Mrs Zimmermanns new residence on First Avenue east nears dry finish. Dr Murdy’s Washington Street residence approaches completion at about 4000 dollars.
