State Railroads Ordered to Produce All Records on Rate Hearing

Minnesota railroad and warehouse commission orders all railroads involved in a merchandise rate inquiry to bring their statistics records to the commission by August 6. The sweeping directive, sought by shippers attorney, could compel all Minnesota railroads to deliver records to the state capitol, though officials may allow examination at railroad offices. Michigan Democrats Nominate Kimmerle for Governor

At the Detroit convention about 350 delegates placed a complete ticket in nomination. Charles H. Kimmerle of Cassopolis narrowly defeated Stanley Parkhill of Owosso for governor after a spirited ballot. The platform faults Republican class legislation and calls for direct primaries and direct senatorial elections.

Steel Laying Starts on Watertown-Conde Branch

Work begins on the Watertown-Conde section of the M. and St. L. line with the first spike driven on Wednesday. Speeches by General M. M. Sheaf and Attorney G. W. Case mark the ceremony. The first spike, a silver one, was driven by L. S. Sheldon and later given back as a souvenir.

Drunken Hobo Arrested After Public Disturbance

A drunken hobo with delirium tremens was paraded by Main Street saloon yesterday afternoon around four. Officer Kirby arrested him and, aided by Dick Edwards, dragged the heavy man to jail to sober up. He will have a chance to state his name before Justice Jones this morning.

Byron Wilcox Returns From Minnesota Crop Tour

Byron Wilcox and his brother Frank traveled through eastern Minnesota by auto assessing crops in Big Stone Brev en s Pope counties. They report excellent stands at some fields but a strip between Gravouille and Morris is blighted by red rust and cannot be harvested. The note ends with an ad offering quick general job work at a low price.

Dead Bodies Found in Colorado Cloudburst Debris

Ouray Colorado August 3 L A Thompson general manager and W W Mather foreman of the Mickey Breen mine of the Tempest Apex company vanished a week ago and were found yesterday under debris in a small tunnel half a mile from the mine. They apparently sought shelter from the cloudburst but were overwhelmed by rocks and dirt.

City Council Revises Sewer Plan Bids Opened

Special meeting reviewed revised bids for sewer work eliminating the deep sewer from pumping station east of North Western tracks. Bids ranged 11000 to 12600 with J J Donnegan lowest. All bids plus 100 feet of 36 inch pipe to outlet were referred to the Sewer committee along with petitions for North State street extension and street lamps near Moen's store.

Evade One Engine Kills Two In Superior and Band Lick Feud

In Superior Wisconsin a Great Northern freight struck Telles Labrec and his 13 year old son as they walked from one berry patch toward town. Both died instantly. In Band Lick Kentucky four men died in a clash between Martin and Hall factions. Sheriff and posse seek surrender of W Yates Martin and his two sons with Governor Beckham to supply troops if needed.

Miss Ber tie Bohnelder Rescues Drowning Friend in Chippewa River

A Milwaukee woman saved Claire L. Corwin a non swimmer who floated with infl ated wings in the Chippewa River at Chippewa Falls. Miss Schneider an expert swimmer arrived as Corwin sank for the second time and towed her to shore. A crowd watched the dramatic rescue.

North Dakota Guard Men Brutally Attacked in Sioux City

H B Gray and Frank Helmas of Company G Valley City North Dakota National Guard were assaulted by Sioux City police officer Frank H Clark. Both men suffered head injuries and will testify as witnesses as Clark faces assault charges. Lieutenant O A Willard of Wahpeton also remained to prosecute.

Robbers Hold Up Boxcar Tourists in Montana

Two robbers held up nine men traveling toward St. Paul. A man was shot and another beaten. the wounded man jumped from the moving train and is believed to die. Robbers escaped with a sizable sum, one victim reportedly turning over 60.

A North Dakota Democratic convention in St Paul heard serious charges against B. S. Brynjolfson of Grand Forks, accused by Siver Scrumgard of spiking George Wilkinson’s 1904 St. Louis pledge. The fight shaped the new ticket with John Burke of Ramsey as governor candidate and a platform calling for tax reform and repealing the Streeter libel law.
