Terrible hailstorm devastates Brown and Spink counties crops

A massive hailstorm last night swept across southern Brown and northern Spink counties, destroying 48 square miles of cropland and causing total losses reported by farmers from Rudolph to Mansfield. The stormcenter stretched across Gem and Rondell townships toward the Jim River, with widespread damage and farmsteads reporting near complete ruin. Local farmers estimated thousands of dollars in losses as windows broke and crops were stripped, marking one of the worst harvests in memory.

Injunction on Elevators Keeps Grain Trade Open
