Several rigs face setbacks, including a bit break at Hitchens No. 1. Ranger Texas December 3 Special to Texan Oil Ledger the Oilbelt Power Company cables from the Jean River power plant over oil fields are being laid 27 wells in Pleasant Strove district connected figures show plans to Breckenridge and other points 800 wells in Eastland and Stephens counties ready to be pumped by electricity awaiting the network.

Cut in Price of Somerset Gasoline Sparks Texas Oil News

In Southwest Texas, Somerset gasoline fell from 23 to 19 cents per gallon over the last week, the story notes. Retail impact lags but is expected to appear soon with plans for better handling, higher production, and cheaper labor. No new record walls were built as Somerset field production rose to near its high due to cleaning old wells, while heavy rains limited development.

Little Syndicate to Drill 1000-Foot Well Near Mercury

Oliver J. Billingsley of Billingsley and Byrum announced that after current work finishes his firm will drill for the Tittle Syndicate at the Cravens farm three miles north of Mercury. The well aims to depth 1000 feet, with a 700 to 800 foot target deemed likely profitable by geologists.

Steal of 8000 Barrels From Ranger Tank Alleges Fraud

Ranger Texas December 8 The tapping of a 6000 barrel oil tank and theft of 8000 barrels from a major company was probed by investigators. Thieves diluted the oil with water from a nearby tank, keeping the level from showing on gauges, and routed the oil to a water reservoir then to dealers before vanishing. No arrests yet.

In Eastland Texas on December 3 a receiver was appointed for Home Oil Company after G F Stamps C J Gartner and W R McConnell filed for a receiver in the 91st district court. They claim they lent funds and work valued at 30500 and that the company owns oil and gas leases rigs and equipment in Eastland and Haskell counties now being wasted. Judge Davenport appointed James Chaffe vice president of the F and M Bank of Ranger as receiver.

New Telephone Building Rising in Eastland for Faster Service

In Eastland Texas on December 3 Arthur Hill local manager says a new $100000 Southwestern Telephone Company building will be finished by January 15. It will replace the old system with the flash service used in major cities. Long distance work progresses with tall leads between Clace and Fort Worth and lines ready for emergency use. The local plant has 432 phones in service and could grow if city construction allowed.

Wichita Falls Texas December 38 The Hissonet & Cozeaux No 2 Pnarkey well in Archer County shows oil at 1760 feet with preparations under way to test with a star rig Bass & Dillard No 1 Riggs nearby also hit oil at 1760 feet and plans a star rig to drill This extends the K M A field and could spur more drilling activity in the area.

Ranger Gambler Granted Rehearing After Two Year Term

In Eastland County, the Court of Criminal Appeals granted a rehearing in the Noisy Watson case. The court reversed and remanded for a new trial after previously dismissing due to insufficient recognizance. The prior conviction for keeping gaming tables at Ranger carried a two year penitentiary sentence.
