A El Paso woman Pearl Rutter 39 fell 14 stories from the First National Bank building on Sheldon Street in Phoenix killing instantly. Coroner classified the death probably accidental. Also reported a body found in a Phoenix irrigation canal identified as Paul Reynolds El Paso DOJ agent shot in Arizona. Reynolds had been in Arizona a week.

High winds and hot dry air hampered crews battling giant forest fires across Washington Idaho and Montana. Airplanes to Dust Cotton Leaf Worm in El Paso Valley

Airplanes will dust about 3200 acres in the El Paso Valley to combat cotton leaf worm, with contracts in the Country club district and Las Cruces area. A Phoenix arrival and a hopper soon will start work, dusting claimed to be more efficient and cheaper than ground methods.

Los Angeles reports Tex Rankin, American aviator, started from Vancouver at 4 40 this morning in an attempt to fly nonstop to Agua Caliente Mexico. Municipal airport officials announced the start of the flight.

Seventeen Arrested for Drunkenness Over Weekend

Records at the county jail show seventeen persons were arrested for drunkenness by the constables’ force over the week end.

Rail and bus service paralyzed by washouts

Flooded highways and washouts disrupted travel across the region. A six mile lake on highway 80 west of Las Cruces blocked traffic while two Santa Fe line washouts near Rincon and between Rincon and Deming halted rail service. Pickwick schedules westward canceled until Deming road repaired. buses and other trains delayed.

In El Paso several men mine near Bowie school at East Seventh and Cotton. Once a smelter site, the slag is now a source of small yields leading workers to sift sand and rock for valuable metals. Police Seek Hit-Run Driver After Child Killed

Authorities search for the driver of a large car that fatally struck Rosendo Amayo a 9 year old at Palm Street and Magoffin Avenue Saturday night. The boy died at City county hospital at 3 30 a m Sunday after being hit and left at the scene. Two men in the vehicle fled after turning out its lights. A license number was provided by G W Watson a Southern Pacific railroad switchman.

Man Reported Drowned Near Santa Fe Street Bridge

An unidentified Mexican man was reported drowned near the Santa Fe Street bridge shortly after noon Monday. Juarez officers searched the river as swimmers dived to locate the man who reportedly went under amid a large crowd gathered at the scene.

Series of earthquakes felt in five eastern states

An Associated Press report describes a series of tremors felt from Springfield Massachusetts to Toronto with the strongest effects in western New York. Canisius College seismographs timed the main shock at 7:24:55 a.m. EDT lasting 12 seconds, with aftershocks, and authorities note damage in Attica and Warsaw with a church wall crack and collapsing chimney.

Denver August 12 AP Regis College seismograph recorded a quake starting at 6 34 a m Rocky Mountain time lasting about seven minutes. Fr Armand W Forstall of Regis noted the shake was weak and centered in the eastern United States.

Bridegroom Shot Accidentally in Duck Hunt

Debs Nordman of Graham Oklahoma, married six weeks, is in critical condition after a .22 rifle bullet struck his head during a duck hunt near Elida New Mexico. The shot was fired by T R Allen when Nordman jumped as birds rose. Irvin Butler 11 aided.
