Longshoremen and lines trade blame after port reopenings
San Francisco West Coast docks show slow progress after a federal court reopened 29 Pacific ports ending a 10 day lockout. Productivity is down 20 to 25 percent versus pre shutdown benchmarks as clerks and drivers are in short supply and tardy. The Pacific Maritime Association and International Longshore and Warehouse Union clash over how to recover, with mediation set to resume and talks on technology and future cargo tracking looming.

Architects redefine WTC plan with new eight week designs
Six international and New York architectural teams get eight weeks to draft plans for the World Trade Center site. New guidelines reduce office space from 11 million to 6.5 to 10 million square feet and require a tall symbol, conference center and hotel, plus a grand indoor station. Footprints of the twin towers must be preserved while no memorial design is yet required.
