Raid on Kandahar compound targets senior Taliban Al Qaida leaders
Officials say a Friday raid west of Kandahar involved 150 soldiers from the 101st Airborne and special forces. One person was killed and almost 50 detainees were captured after an eight hour operation sparked by intelligence linking the compound to sanctuary for senior leaders. Weapons, cash and items of intelligence were recovered as personnel assess identities and interrogate detainees.
