Penney cuts jobs and closes three catalog facilities
Penney plans about 2000 job cuts and closes a catalog fulfillment center in Atlanta and two call centers in Atlanta and Lenexa by summer. About 800 full-time Atlanta jobs and 700 part-time center jobs will go, part of wider cuts across four fulfillment centers and ten call centers. The move aims to save 30 million yearly from 2004, with pretax charges around 40 million this year.
