Christmas arrest ends four-year manhunt in Salem
Chandler Charles Field, 30, was arrested by Officer Mike Basket on Christmas while visiting his parents in Salem. Field, previously busted for leaving a diner without paying, escaped from Basket in 1998 by slipping through a car window. He faced charges of resisting arrest, theft, and other warrants and was held on 33500 dollars bail. A Sun correction noted the Masonic Lodge on Sixth Street remained in use until its destruction by a tornado.
