Immaculate Conception Parish Founded in Corsicana 1877
Corsicana’s Catholic community traces its beginnings to Father Pierre Francois Chandy and the first baptism on Oct 1 1871, with official parish establishment in 1877. Early residents John Noonan and others donated land for church and school while a frame church was built by 1872 and an academy opened in 1874 led by Sisters of St Mary of Namur.
