A fire at 3 o clock this morning destroyed the house of Mrs. Levenque on the corner of Locust and Fourteenth streets. The Hartford Insurance covered 8,000 on the house and 500 on goods, with the stable spared. Mrs. Levenque and her daughter escaped with only their night clothing.
Theft of Valuable Mare Attested to by Chauncey Young Arrest
SM Young reports a valuable mare stolen. A $50 reward was offered. On Saturday Chief Showmaker arrested Chauncey Young in Indianapolis and returned him and the horse to town. Chauncey denies the theft claiming a sale contract with Geo Brown of Danville, which SM Young disputes. The horse will be returned today.
