Parade and Museum Dedication For Indiana Antique Auto Tour
Gray skies could not dampen the big parade of mechanized antiques in Terre Haute. The fourth annual Indiana Antique Auto Tour was to bring about 140 cars and 400 visitors to town with a 4 o'clock arrival at Meadows Center and a 5:30 museum dedication at 823 Wabash Avenue. The event included a downtown parade route and a north side route, a museum unveiling, a reception, and a Chamber dinner, with Vigo County Civil Defense police patrolling the parking lots for Saturday night.

Hugh Dick Mathers 29 of 3518 Buckeye Street was killed before dawn Saturday when his car veered into the opposite lane on U S 231 and collided with a truck driven by Roland A Bush of Lafayette in Daviess County He died en route to Daviess County Hospital in Washington and authorities said he suffered a broken neck Bush swerved to avoid impact and pulled onto the shoulder but could not prevent the crash The truck carried pre fabricated concrete bridge spans and Mathers auto struck the trailer wheels The crash left the truck trailer wheels detached and the car out of control with the wreck continuing for more than 100 feet.
