A twin engine Lockheed Lodestar owned by Ashland Oil crashed on Glenn Sickle’s 40 acre farm near Ravenna while carrying executives from Cleveland and Buffalo to Ashland Kentucky for a sales meeting. Thirteen aboard died with no survivors. The plane exploded in bright orange flames, leaving debris scattered across the field and a crater five feet deep.
