Joseph B. Mackey of 2100 Ohio Blvd Union Hospital administrator received the Labor Day Award at the Vigo Sullivan Clay Central Labor Council dinner. He was cited for expanding Union Hospital and aiding the Kathryn Hamilton hospital project serving seven Western Indian counties. He serves on seven health boards.
The Vigo County School Corp board meets in special session to consider the 1970 budget. A 3–3 deadlock last week left the levy at 9.5 cents above the current rate, with total proposed spending of 12,020,348 dollars and levy of 5,995 dollars per 100 of assessed valuation.
