Missing air pirate jumps from jet with ransom bags

FBI says the hijacker of a Northwest Airlines jet may be an experienced jumper or reckless. Two days of searching in sparsely populated southwestern Washington have yielded no trace. About 200000 dollars in 20 bills was paid as ransom, packed in 10000 bills weighing 24 pounds total. Police reported a pink parachute canopy and two white canopies found aboard the plane after landing in Reno.

Air pirates hijack jet to Cuba after fuel stop

Three young African American suspects fleeing a New Mexico trooper slaying hijack a TWA jet in Tampa after letting 40 passengers disembark at a fuel stop. Armed with guns and a knife, they take control as crew and a few passengers remain aboard for the Havana leg.

Indian troops launch new cross border drive into East Pakistan

New Delhi reports Indian forces crossed the Dinajpur frontier in East Pakistan amid renewed shelling. Official sources say 80 Pakistani troops were killed and a tank destroyed, with Mukti Bahini claims of 87 Pakistani soldiers killed in two incidents. Killer 41 Crash Kills One at US 41 North of Sullivan

A two lane crash on U S 41 north of Sullivan Indiana killed 37 year old George L. Barger of Creve Coeur Illinois and injured John Lubbehusen 56 of Terre Haute. Barger died on arrival at Mary Sherman Hospital after a head on collision as he attempted to pass another car. Lubbehusen suffered a broken arm and facial injuries and was to be released from hospital Saturday. Sheriff Roseberry and deputies state police and county officials investigated. A South Bend woman Jacqueline Notteboom 34 was killed when struck by a truck while walking on a South Bend street. Continued on Page 7 Col 3.

Jilted teen kills four, shoots self in Lancaster tragedy

Sheriff deputies report an 18 year old Gary Logan shot and killed his former girlfriend Lori Roskam, her parents Jack and Doris Welch, and Rocco Nolfo before killing himself. Four teens involved included Susan Roskam who escaped through a window with a severed arm. The incident followed a breakup with Lori Roskam after dating.

Two Missing Girls Found Dead in Texas River Basin

Houston area deputies recover the decomposed body of Gloria Gonzalez 19 near a nearly dry reservoir and shortly later a 13 year old girl Colette Anise Wilson is identified by dental work and the peace ring she wore. Sheriff Kern links the case to two Galveston girls believed killed by a homicidal maniac with possible ties to a Bayou City double homicide.
