Nixon to address energy crisis on nationwide TV

Arraignment Set For Lathie Jones In Vigo Court

Lathie Jones, 61, of 2346 4th Ave, faces two counts of preliminary murder after allegedly shooting his great aunt Elda VanlLieu at Meadows Manor and his mother Della Wimmer at Wallace Nursing Center. He is jailed without bond in Vigo County awaiting arraignment.

Jody Secondino Tops Hereford Senior Calf at Chicago Exposition

Jody Secondino daughter of Pete and Sue Secondino of West Terre Haute won the Hereford breed senior calf class at the 74th International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. The event progresses with grand champion steer judging Saturday. Other notable results include cross breed champions and a 1,205 pound Chester-Duroc-Hampshire cross barrow truckload victory by the Rodibaugh family of Rensselaer Indiana.

Tornado Hits Eminence Missouri Killing Three and Wounding One

A tornado struck Eminence Missouri before dawn killing at least three people and injuring one. State patrol reported a path about 100 feet wide and three to four blocks long through the southeast Missouri town.

Skylab 3 Crew Takes Day Off

Skylab 3 astronauts Gerald Carr William Pogue and Edward Gibson took a rest day to regroup and allow ground crews to study a gyro maneuvering problem. With one gyroscope failed the station can run with two but caution remains about a second failure. The crew is on day nine of an 84 day mission and faced scheduling and storage challenges while Earth resources and solar astronomy experiments lag.

Indiana Holiday Road Toll Climbs

An 11 year old girl died when a car overturned in a creek near Lexington Indiana just before midnight becoming the seventh fatality from holiday traffic in the state. Joyce 16 was hospitalized in Louisville after the crash. Other deaths included 73 year old Gilbert O Duncan struck by a semi on Indiana 37 in Bloomington and 22 year old James Minthorne in a semi crash on Indiana 16 in Miami County. An Ohio man Harold W Gencope 46 was killed in a four vehicle collision at U S 30 and Indiana 331 in Marshall County. Michael Spaugh 16 of Elkhart died from injuries after a motorcycle crash on a private drive in Elkhart County.

Traffic deaths over the Thanksgiving weekend totaled 266 as fog covered much of the East and rain fell along the Northwest coast. Snow slowed travel in the Southwest and interior Northwest. The count began at 6 pm Wednesday and ends at midnight Sunday.

Salvation Army Opens Annual Christmas Kettle Drive

The Salvation Army in Vigo County launched its Christmas Kettle Drive with Mrs Nellie Price receiving the first donation from Mrs Nancee Falber.
