Plane Crash in Illinois Kills Two Aboard

A small private plane crashed during snowfall near Willisville Illinois killing two people on board. State police reported the fuselage burst into flame on impact and the victims were unidentified. City Firemen Ambulance Service Begins Operations

The Terre Haute Fire Department launched its emergency ambulance unit on Tuesday after readiness since last Sunday. Crews were tested seven times in hours, with calls including police incidents and a false alarm from a southside resident. The first call came at 2:41 p.m. for Robert Brown who had a slight head injury, and Michael Reed suffered possible concussion and head injuries in a Walnut Street collision. Reed was hospitalized in serious condition but improved later. Property damage totaled 2300 dollars, with 1500 of Reed’s vehicle and 800 to the Prox auto.

Two Are Held In Drug Case Names Withheld

Federal authorities arrested two persons connected to drugs mailed to Terre Haute. Names were withheld pending investigation. Fear 28 Traffic Deaths In State

Officials fear 28 people will die in traffic crashes over the four day holiday period ending at midnight Sunday. A four car crash on US 30 near Fort Wayne killed Mina M. Pepe, 82, of Fort Wayne, as law enforcement warned drivers to proceed with caution amid hopes for light travel conditions.
