Burlin Armstrong Dies in Hospital
Vigo County auditor Burlin F. Armstrong died early Monday at St. Anthony’s Hospital after earlier tests. Survived by wife Ann Armstrong of 2009 N. 25th St., he lived in Vigo County, formerly West Terre Haute. Elected auditor in 1966, he had begun a new term after recent reelection. Formerly custodian of old records, he also worked 25 years in business management and earlier in baking. Navy veteran, he led civic and fraternal memberships including Indiana County Auditors Association, Moose Lodge, Optimists, Masons, Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons, Terre Haute Shrine.

Open New Center For the Elderly In Jasonville Ind
The Shakamak Good Samaritan Center, a 63 bed elderly facility, was dedicated Sunday in Jasonville Indiana. Dr George Davis executive director of the State Commission on Aging spoke and noted the project will be presented to the National Conference on Aging in Washington next week as a community accomplishment. Local fundraising including ice cream socials brick cleaning and bake sales raised over 100000 with the remaining 350000 financed by Green County banks through the Good Samaritan group. The center will serve Jasonville and surrounding territory.
