Paris reports say Henry Kissinger resumed secret talks with Le Duc Tho as both sides push for a rapid end to the Vietnam War. The main hurdle remains South Vietnam's demand for all North Vietnamese troops to leave South Vietnam. Nixon adviser hinted a speedy accord possible if Tho shows flexibility as in October.

B52s Rain Bombs on Reds Near DMZ in Vietnam War

U S B52 bombers dropped 1200 tons of radar guided bombs on North Vietnamese positions near the DMZ. In Quang Tri province Marines and an armored column advanced about two miles despite heavy resistance and monsoon rains. Casualties included at least 44 North Vietnamese killed and 12 government troops killed with 78 wounded. attacks killed and wounded more near Saigon Da Nang Pleiku and Long My.

West Germans Vote Approval of Brandt Victory in politische Ballot

Eight Vigo County Deputies Named by Sheriff

Vigo County Sheriff George Albright announced eight new deputies to join the force, bringing total personnel to 29. The appointments, effective January 1, were approved by the sheriff’s merit board and cover eight named individuals who will begin training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy from January 8 to February 17.

Three Die in 231 Crash Near Ind 58

A three car crash two miles north of Ind 58 on U S 231 killed Leland Chaney 24 and OLee Chaney 24 of Owensburg and Thomas Scott 38 of Crane. Scott's car collided with the Chaney vehicle when Mrs Chaney skidded broadside around 1 50 a m Sunday. Timothy Swartz 24 of Bloomington caused the third impact but was uninjured.
