Hillman Jewelers to Open Expanded Store on Wabash
Hillman Jewelers announces a new 21 000 square foot building on Wabash avenue in Terre Haute to replace the burned downtown store. The enlarged brick structure 50 feet by 140 feet will include 5 150 square feet of sales space and fireproofing features. George and Alf Felstein say final plans are with architects and the shop aims to reopen in October on the original site.

Terre Haute Jewelry Store to Feature Marble Sidewalls and Air Door
The planned store will use marble sidewalls and precast front walls with an exposed aggregate finish. A prominent eight foot air door will be recessed in the front, open year round, with an air curtain to deter insects and small animals. The design includes a balcony with a 20 foot window, a unique air door feature, and an even air distribution system without registers. Interior finishes include walnut and laminates, glass shelving, and illuminated display cases. The first floor prioritizes sales while the second houses offices, a jewelry factory, repair shop, and future expansion space. An elevator serves the basement and two upper levels, with plans for vaulted fireproofing and strategic storage. Architects are Miller-Miller and Associates. Harold A. Shafer and Associates handle interior design. Earl Kuykendall Construction Company holds the overall contract.
