Poisoned Wheat Found. Search Is Continuing
Federal agents seized seven carloads of poisoned wheat and pressed a search for more loads of mercury coated grain. Maurice P. Kerr of the Minneapolis FDA said all wheat may have been rounded up, though certainty was elusive. Officials from two large milling firms predicted rigorous pre milling inspection would stop processed grain. Seven railroad cars were seized after a five week probe begun on a tip. Kerr noted pink tinted seed grain is often dyed to identify seed stock and may be coated with mercury. The confiscated grain was shipped to Minneapolis Duluth and St. Cloud from sources in South Dakota North Dakota Montana and Minnesota.
