Sergeant Killed In Auto Crash Near Brownsburg

An automobile and a passenger bus collided near Brownsburg Indiana killing Air Force Sergeant Harry S Harriger 24 of Chanute Field Rantoul Illinois. The driver Sergeant Kenneth E Boucher 29 was injured with non serious injuries. Two other passengers were treated and released and the bus driver was unharmed.

Nurse reports apartment robbery on North Eighth Street

Nurse Georgeanna Greene of Union Hospital told officers that her purse and $36 were stolen from her unlocked apartment after 9 pm Friday. The missing items were recovered between her house and 1620 North Eighth Street by a painter today.

Three Die In Bedford Airport Plane Crash

Three people were killed when their light plane hit a tree while landing at Bedford Miles Airport in Bedford township. A fourth man was seriously injured after the aircraft pancaked and overshot the runway. he was taken to St Luke's Hospital. The dead were Sylvan Ponner 48 pilot of Bluffton Ind. Stepfather Shot by 14 Year Old in Home Disturbance

Vern Black aged 14 on Sycamore Street fired one shot with a .22 rifle wounding his stepfather Wyman Parker 46 in the left forearm after Parker reportedly caused a disturbance and forced entry at the home. Parker was arrested on intoxication charges, treated at St Anthony's Hospital, and later booked at police headquarters. Detectives Lieut Beasley and Officers Bealmer Stevens Houston and Means led the case.

Driver Arrested After Fifth and Ohio Crash

An auto collision at Fifth and Ohio streets early Saturday led to the arrest of Jack Sullivan 23 of West Terre Haute on a driving while intoxicated charge. He admitted running a red light and hitting a car driven by Allen McCammon. Sullivan was hospitalized for observation. companion Clifford Pearman 55 of Poplar Street was jailed on intoxication charges.

Six Countries Join In Pool In Western Europe Plan

Eight Japanese Protest Aiding US Troops Get Prison Terms

In Tokyo on Memorial Day a four day trial handed prison terms to eight Japanese who attacked five American soldiers. Ringleader Kaneji Onishi received 10 years, six others seven years, and Goichi Sodeyama five years. Demonstrations against the trial occurred nationwide with about 50 000 participants. no violence was reported.

Ex Marine Kills Woman Then Self After Jealous Plot

A 23 year old ex marine Alvin Bailey of Birmingham killed his female companion by beating her and later killed a man he found with her. He then drove for two days with her body in the car and shot himself near Asheville Alabama. Mrs Gertrude Klein, about 35, lay dead in the back seat. Police found Bailey with a .22 bullet wound after a farmer tipped them. Refugees in Kona Hawaii report lava flows from Mauna Loa forcing evacuations and property loss as they describe loss and fear.
