Rebel captain pledges to land 620 hostages in Recife
Rebel commander Henrique Galvao promised to bring the 620 captives of the hijacked Santa Maria ashore at Recife on Wednesday after a U S naval group warned free passage on the high seas was too dangerous. He cited guarantees from Brazil's new president Janio Quadros sworn in in Brasilia. The pledge followed a nearly three hour talk aboard the liner with Rear Adm. Allen Smith Jr. The Navy said the plan was not yet definite and Quadros offered no comment.

Crown Point Indiana January 31 Two men were held on bonds totaling 125000 in connection with a 110000 robbery of the Glen Park branch of the Gary Trust and Savings Bank last Saturday. William Ellsworth Spencer 57 ex convict was arrested Monday in a New Castle hotel where FBI said he hid with 85000 of the loot in two suitcases. James P Scott who stayed with Spencer after his release from the Moundsville West Virginia penitentiary six weeks ago was held since shortly after the robbery. Spencer held 75000 bond after a hearing in Indianapolis Monday. Scott held 50000 bond as an accessory.

Tragic Hotel Roof Killing In Los Angeles
