North Vietnam Boosts Conditions for POW Releases

North Vietnam said no more American POW releases until the United States fully honors the Vietnam cease-fire and Hanoi in the south receives better treatment. The shift came as a second large POW batch was due. 164 of 594 POWs have been freed so far with all to be released by March 28 under the Paris accord.

John A. Watkins Dies at Age 74

John A. Watkins 74 publisher of The Evening World newspaper in Bloomfield Indiana died Monday at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis after five weeks of illness. A former lieutenant governor from 1949 to 1953 he later sought the Democratic gubernatorial nomination but lost to George N. Craig. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery Indianapolis. Judge Refuses To Reduce Bond In Drug Case

Vigo Circuit Court denied bond reduction pleas for one defendant in illegal sale of dangerous drugs cases. Attorney Eric Frey filed a habeas corpus for James R. Dearing, and a motion to correct errors was planned before an appeal. Dearing faces a $60,000 bond. other defendants face $10,000 to $40,000 bonds from raids on Feb. 17.
