Grand Jury to Probe Fratricide in City
James Spellman 55, assistant city engineer, is in custody after his brother Lawrence Spellman 59 was found stabbed to death in their Oak Street home. Four wounds were reported, two deep in the abdomen area and two near the left chest. A 24 inch Japanese bayonet was recovered under a bed. Spellman was ordered held for a grand jury on a preliminary first degree murder charge. he claimed to have done it but later said he had no recollection. The incident occurred Sunday with coroner D M Ferguson declaring it a homicide.

Six Firemen Injured Battling Sawdust Blaze Near Dayton High
Six firemen were injured Monday night near Fairmont High School when fighting a sawdust fire in a collection area. Two firefighters, Ronald Stevenson and Tom Moore, suffered frozen feet in five degree weather and were hospitalized. The fire did not damage the school.
