Ice Causes Four Car Pileup East of Terre Haute
A thin glaze of ice on U S Highway 40 east of Terre Haute sparked a four car pileup at about 7 30 am injuring two drivers. Stanley Henry 26 of Brazil and David Kitch 41 of Brazil were taken to Union Hospital with Henry kept for observation. The crash involved Durham Mason 31 of Brazil Vernon Harris 32 of Brazil and George Brakeall 29 of Springfield Ohio with Mason rear ended by Brakeall. Minor damage occurred in Seelyville and a separate icy slide near Rose made Mary Bowman 18 of Las Vegas New Mexico lose control but was uninjured.

Tank Run Kills Woman Driver in Covina Collision
A 47-ton National Guard Patton tank ran out of control in Covina California crushing a station wagon and killing 58 year old Mrs Jeanette Hendricks. The four man crew was unhurt and the driver Sgt Gordon Gray said the tank veered to the curb before impact. Local authorities investigated the incident and the tank was returning to Baldwin Park after a day of recruiting.
