Schulte H S Faces 237000 Deficit With Plan to Survive
Schulte High School in Terre Haute will stay open despite a 237000 deficit for the current year. The Terre Haute Deanery School Board approved a plan to raise tuition from 175 to 275 for one child and to 425 for two or more, with non Catholic rates doubling to 400. Parish subsidy will fall to 201000 next year and to about 69 percent by 1976 77. The board favors a 50 50 operating cost split with parents and is launching fund raising and recruitment efforts to cover a 30000 annual deficit.

Marshall man killed in Velsical Chemical plant mishap
Virgil G. Rhoads 58 of Marshall Illinois died after a drum filled with a chemical fell on his leg at the Velsicol plant. An autopsy will determine the cause. Rhoads lost much blood and was in shock. He was treated for shock and pronounced dead on arrival at Union Hospital Terre Haute. Plant says no witnesses and notes first fatality in its history. Survived by widow Hilda and three children.
