Tornado Toll Rises Across Mississippi Delta
Dozens of tornadoes struck the Mississippi River delta Sunday night with 74 dead and hundreds injured. Sixty eight fatalities occurred in Mississippi and six in Louisiana as two East Texas cities were also hit. Authorities report 40 to 50 tornadoes milling along a 100 mile line, with LeFlore County and Inverness among hardest hit. Seven Police Slain in US This Weekend
Seven law enforcement officers were killed in weekend incidents across the United States. Philadelphia officers Patrolman John McEntee and Joseph Kelly were murdered while on patrol.
