Indiana House approved an implied consent measure 87-4, sending a revised bill to the Senate. The sponsor Rep. Kenneth Bays said committee action rewrote the bill to satisfy most lawmakers, and the implied consent provision was dropped.
Vigo County property tax rates for 1968, payable this year, have been certified by the Indiana State Board of Tax Commissioners. Final rates vary by township with Terre Haute Harrison at 11.63, Terre Haute Honey Creek 11.52, Lost Creek 11.42, West Terre Haute 11.91, and Seelyville 8.27. Mayor Leland Larrison says several backup options exist if an overpass or underpass on N 7th St fails. Proposed measures include upgrading Fruitridge Ave from Penn Central tracks to Ft Harrison Rd, building a new firehouse, or adding a secondary sewage disposal plant. Tuck, a civilian oceanographer aboard the USS Pueblo, testified at a Navy court of inquiry that he helped portray the ship as an oceanographic vessel to mask its surveillance mission during the North Korean seizure.
