An elderly 67 year old man Frank McCloud of 625 N Water St died at the scene after a Monday night house fire. Vigo County Coroner Dr. D M Ferguson declared him dead as firefighters battled a home nearly engulfed in flames. Investigators say he lay near the front door while attempting to escape and was overcome by smoke inhalation. The residence was owned by Mr and Mrs Robert Farris who had leased it to McCloud.
