About 225 reservations have been made for the 7 pm banquet at the Terre Haute House Mayflower Room. Mayor Ralph Tucker will welcome, and a plaque will be given to Wheeler, a CSC veteran who rose to senior vice president before 1950.
A federal judge in Philadelphia fined 11 large electrical companies nearly half a million dollars in a single session for price fixing and bid rigging in power equipment sales. The two day total nears $1.28 million with 7 executives jailed 30 days and 21 given suspended terms on five year probation.
President Kennedy sent a bill to raise the national minimum wage from 1.00 to 1.25 over several years, with initial boosts to 1.15 and 1.20, covering about 4.3 million more workers and expanding protections for 24 million current workers. Hearings set for Feb. 17.
