A fire at the Durham Manufacturing Corp plant in Muncie caused about 2 million dollars in damage and forced 400 employees to flee. Fire officials said a paint ingredient dripping into a heater triggered a flash fire, with flames racing through two to three story buildings. A warehouse and nearby laundry were threatened but saved. about 1 million dollars of furniture in the warehouse was preserved.
