Vigo County Council considers emergency funds in 1966 meeting
Emergency appropriations totaling about 75000 were debated by the Vigo County Council in its first 1966 session. District officials urged part time clerical help while a proposal for a shared full time worker spurred discussion. The discussion included a 1000 salary request for a part time secretary for the Vigo Drainage Board. The council held the matter for possible cross agency support. In a separate tragedy, four people including a Burnett mother and two daughters died when their car was struck by a New York Central train near Jameson Road. The mother died during surgery at St Anthony’s Hospital.

Operation Masher drives heavy Viet Nam toll and air war
In Saigon the United States reported more than 1,100 Communist killed or captured in Operation Masher across the central coastal plains.
