Malnutrition Found Among Well-to-Do in America Too
Washington AP reports preliminary HEW findings show malnutrition affecting not only the poor but teenagers and pregnant women from middle class families. Dr. Arnold E. Schaefer says the study, costing 1.5 million so far with 30,000 examined, aims to document malnutrition rather than hunger and may expand to 65,000 people across several states.

GNP Flares In Fourth Quarter Despite Efforts to Curb Inflation
Washington AP The Commerce Department warns of a sizable rise in gross national product for the October December quarter despite government efforts to restrain inflation. The rise, not yet exact, mirrors the third quarter's $18.1 billion increase to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $871 billion. Expenditures for new plant and equipment, housing, inventories, and state local government outlays drive the surge, contradicting expectations of a slowdown despite a 10 percent income tax surcharge.
