Indiana GM plants face layoff wave amid car cuts
Indiana GM facilities plan partial shutdowns over the coming weeks as the automaker reduces production by 79 000 cars. Marion Fishjer Body Division will idle 2 100 workers December 12-14 with most to return December 15. Delco plants in Kokomo will lay off about 4 400 hourly workers the week of December 17 before a holiday furlough. Ford Chrysler and AMC reports vary with no immediate Indiana layoffs at Ford and normal holiday schedules at Chrysler.
