Local hotel fire causes heavy damage

A two alarm blaze swept through the Sullivan Hotel at 417 Walnut and over the Merry-Go-Round Tavern at 204 South Fourth in Mon day morning. Over 30 elderly residents escaped unharmed as firemen contained the flames that damaged both the hotel and tavern, with losses estimated above 10 000 dollars to the hotel and 4 000 to 5 000 dollars to the tavern.

Wounded GIs Released by Chinese Reds Near Changjin

Twenty seven American soldiers were freed last night in the Changjin reservoir sector after captivity with the Chinese Reds. Some officers remained with the Communists.
