Robs Gas Station of $200 in Cash

Anderson Indiana August 29 A gunman held up a young filling station attendant at Huntsville and escaped with $200. The attendant De weltson 21 said the man bound him with a window cord and severed telephone wires before joining a companion in a waiting car. The men drove toward Anderson four miles northeast of Huntsville.

Shell Explodes At Picnic Kill Three Children In El Paso

Three children died and ten were injured when a 9 mm shell exploded over a family picnic in an El Paso yard. Velma Morales age 4 and George Valdez age 6 died at hospital while Ricciardo Lujan 10 and Hector Ramirez 4 were among the injured.

Terre Haute City Council meets in special session at 7:30 PM in City Hall Courtroom to approve Mayor Ralph Tucker's 1956 budget with a nine cent tax reduction. Arts Chalmers Manufacturing failed to obtain a temporary injunction against striking workers from Local 1164 CIO. Eight year old burned after park rubbish fire attack

Eight year old Joseph Bolero of Queens suffered first degree burns when three older boys aged about ten to twelve threw him into a rubbish fire in a Queens park. He escaped, ran to a wash room, and a park attendant took him to a hospital.

Berserk Tenant Dies In Battle With 200 Cops

In Detroit a gunman identified as Charles Luther Rollins aged 44 from Leoma Tennessee died after a four hour siege with 200 police surrounding a burning house. He fired from a rear window as officers returned fire wounding two patrolmen and injuring 5,000 onlookers watched the dramatic confrontation. Rollins was a farmer and cabinet maker by papers found on him.
